The terminal was designed by Catalan architect Ricardo Bofill and was built to handle large numbers of people and make <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/travel-spain-train\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0to and from Barcelona much easier for passengers by proving better service than the old terminal. <strong>Terminal 1<\/strong> contains 101 gates and over 20,000 square meters of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/shopping-barcelona-airport\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shopping<\/a> areas. Nowadays, Terminal 2 operates about\u00a030% of the flights coming and going from Barcelona&#8217;s airport. Most of the airlines that fly in and out of Terminal two are the low-cost and regional companies including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ryanair.com\/gb\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><strong>Ryanair<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easyjet.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><strong>Easy Jet<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Connections\"><\/span>Connections<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Although the two<strong> Barcelona airport terminals<\/strong> are 4 kilometers apart, getting between them for connecting flights is easy.
