His son, Ignacio Barraquer, supported the creation of the <strong>Barraquer Clinic<\/strong> in Barcelona, a private organization which was founded in 1941 and built around a dedication to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/study-barcelona\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">medical research<\/a><\/strong>, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of eye diseases. Ignacio Barraquer&#8217;s two sons, Joaqu\u00edn Barraquer and Jose Ignacio Barraquer carried on the third generation. Jose Ignacio went on to found the Barraquer Institute of American in Colombia while Joaqu\u00edn, together with his two children Elena and Rafael Barraquer who make up the fourth generation, achieved international recognition for the <strong>Barraquer Ophthalmology Center<\/strong> through the creation of the <strong>Barraquer Foundation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Barraquer_Ophthalmology_Center\"><\/span>The Barraquer Ophthalmology Center<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Well known and respected in Barcelona, the <strong>Barraquer Ophthalmology Center\u00a0<\/strong>has a medical team which includes 30 experienced <strong>ophthalmologists\u00a0<\/strong>who specialize in many different areas so every patient gets the best possible treatment for his or her needs. The team performs more than 100,000 consultations, 9,000 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/imo-barcelona-ocular-microsurgery\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>surgical<\/strong><\/a> procedures, and 5,000 laser\u00a0treatments each year.
