Since then it has moved around a bit from the Olympic Stadium to a square near the shipyards, before finally finding its permanent home at the end of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/el-raval\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">La Rambla del Raval<\/a><\/strong> in 2003. The over inflated bronze cat is one of the most\u00a0quirky\u00a0pieces of <strong>art<\/strong>\u00a0in the neighborhood, often attracting the attention of children who pet the statue and play\u00a0around it. You can see <strong>Botero<\/strong>\u2019s other chubby animal statue, the <strong>Horse,<\/strong> at Terminal 2 at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/catalonia-airports\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Barcelona&#8217;s airport<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2_Cerillas_by_Claes_Oldenburg\"><\/span>2. Cerillas by Claes Oldenburg<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In <strong>Vall d\u2019Hebron<\/strong>,\u00a0you can find a 20-metre tall matchbox, on an unassuming street corner. This colorful <strong>sculpture<\/strong> was created by\u00a0<strong>Swedish artist Claes Oldenbrug<\/strong>,\u00a0built during for the 1992 Olympics. <strong>Cerillas<\/strong> is a\u00a0<strong>pop art sculpture<\/strong>\u00a0that stands out in an area that is not very frequented by tourists but which is a must see for those who truly appreciate <strong>modern art<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_David_and_Goliath_by_Antoni_Llena\"><\/span>3. David and Goliath by Antoni Llena<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This unusual piece of art, situated close to the beach in <strong>Vila Ol\u00edmpica<\/strong>, was created by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/famous-catalan-artists\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Catalan artist<\/a><strong> Antoni Llena<\/strong>. This tall <strong>sculpture<\/strong> depicts the epic battle between David and Goliath in an abstract expression. La Jirafa Coqueta by Josep Granyer<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_89110\" style=\"width: 342px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-89110\" class=\" wp-image-89110\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/giraffe-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"332\" height=\"221\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-89110\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo by jaime.silva via VisualHunt<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As you walk up from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/plaza-barcelona\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pla\u00e7a de Catalunya<\/a>, on the Rambla de Catalunya, just before you reach Avinguda Diagonal you will get a pleasant surprise in the form of a rather flirtatious character lounged out ahead of you. <strong>La Jirafa Coqueta<\/strong> or <strong>The Flirtatious Giraffe<\/strong> is a <strong>sculpture<\/strong> by artist <strong>Josep Granyer<\/strong>. He created the piece back in 1972 as a part of a series depicting curious-looking animals displaying human traits. You can find another <strong>sculpture<\/strong> in the series nearby called <strong>El Toro Sentado<\/strong> or <strong>The Sitting Bull<\/strong>\u00a0(also known as <strong>the Thinking Bull<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"5_The_Circle_by_Andre_Fauteux\"><\/span>5. The Circle by Andr\u00e9 Fauteux<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 1987, the award-winning Canadian artist <strong>Andr\u00e9 Fauteux,<\/strong> who is known for using large steel structures in geometric abstract designs, was commissioned to create this <strong>sculpture<\/strong> as a holocaust memorial to those from Barcelona who died in the Nazi death camps.
