It is, in fact, so important, that it is considered by many as the center of Barcelona. Located in the district of Eixample,\u00a0<strong>Pla\u00e7a de Catalunya<\/strong> is the meeting point between some of the city&#8217;s most important streets and boulevards: La Rambla, Rambla de Catalunya, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/shops-passeig-de-gracia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Passeig de Gr\u00e0cia<\/a>, Ronda da la Universidad, Ronda de San Pedro, Calle de Pelayo, and Portal del \u00c1ngel.\u00a0<strong>Pla\u00e7a de Catalunya\u00a0<\/strong>is decorated with a number of sculptures like &#8220;La Diosa&#8221; by Josep Clar\u00e0, the monument dedicated to Francesc Maci\u00e0, and &#8220;Barcelona&#8221; by Frederic Mar\u00e8s. There are also two beautiful fountains which light up at night in different colors, while the water performs a choreography, much like the one in that takes place in the famous\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/font-magica\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Font M\u00e0gica de Montju\u00efc<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Placa_dEspanya\"><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.es\/maps\/place\/Pla%C3%A7a+Espanya\/@41.3750293,2.1469285,17z\/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x12a4a27942bd356b:0xfb367259127db926!8m2!3d41.3750293!4d2.1491172\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Pla\u00e7a d&#8217;Espanya<\/a><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Located in the district of Sants-Montju\u00efc,\u00a0<strong>Pla\u00e7a d&#8217;Espanya<\/strong> was one of the many constructions erected for 1929&#8217;s International Exhibition. It is one of the largest\u00a0<strong>plazas<\/strong> in the city, designed by\u00a0<strong>Josep Amarg\u00f3s.<\/strong>\u00a0It is decorated with a fountain created by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/josep-maria-jujol\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Josep Maria Jujol<\/a>, and statues designed by Nicolau Maria Rubi\u00f3 i Tudur\u00ed. The central part of the <strong>plaza,<\/strong> where all of these decorations lie, is not easily accessible since it is located inside a roundabout in an area with heavy traffic, but it can be seen from relatively close. The <strong>plaza,<\/strong> which is located at the intersection of Ronda de Sant Antoni, Carrer d&#8217;Aribau, and Grand Via de les Corts Catalanes, owes its name to one of the most important universities in the city,\u00a0<strong>Universitat de Barcelona<\/strong>, designed by Elis Rogent and built during the second half of the nineteenth century. It is very common to find skaters practicing their moves in this\u00a0<strong>plaza<\/strong> not only due to its flat surface but also due to the existence of long, rectangular benches.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Placa_de_les_Glories_Catalanes\"><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.es\/maps\/place\/Pla%C3%A7a+de+les+Gl%C3%B2ries+Catalanes\/@41.4034004,2.1846808,17z\/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x47dd0b77cd51d072!8m2!3d41.4034006!4d2.1868694\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Pla\u00e7a de les Gl\u00f2ries Catalanes<\/a><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This\u00a0<strong>plaza<\/strong>, most commonly referred to as\u00a0<strong>Gl\u00f2ries<\/strong>, is located in the startup-friendly district of Sant Mart\u00ed, connecting Avinguda Diagonal, Avinguda Meridiana, and Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes. Many don&#8217;t know, but\u00a0<strong>Pla\u00e7a de les Gl\u00f2ries Catalanes<\/strong> was originally designed by Ildefons Cerd\u00e0 to serve as the city&#8217;s center, a position that was taken by\u00a0<strong>Pla\u00e7a de Catalunya<\/strong>. It is a gorgeous palm-tree lined <strong>plaza<\/strong>, decorated with a fountain and amazing street lamps designed by Antoni Gaud\u00ed.
