This meant small plots of land that were derelict or uncared for were converted into a haven for green fingers. Local people over 65 years old manage the allotments and many gardens host <strong>educational classes<\/strong> for children to learn about growing vegetables. The first <strong>urban garden<\/strong> was created in 1997 in <strong>Sants-Montju\u00efc<\/strong> and you can now find many more all over the city. Around 25 people manage and work on the allotment. There is social and open spirit as the urban garden is seen as a <strong>meeting space for the local community<\/strong>. Poblenou has undergone a massive transformation from a heavy industrial area into a family-friendly neighborhood with more creative industries. The project, which began in 1997, not only includes an <strong>urban garden<\/strong> but also aims at providing <strong>educational programs<\/strong> in the local area based on social cohesion.<strong> Casa Verde BCN<\/strong> offers various workshops and activities including <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/yoga-sarria\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">yoga classes<\/a>, kirtans, <\/strong>and <strong>music concerts<\/strong>. It is located on a piece of land owned by the university, on Carrer de Montalegre, 6.
