If there is one thing Barcelona is famous for is its gorgeous architecture<\/strong><\/a>. There are a number of incredible buildings that beg to be sketched or photographed, some of which have even been declared World Heritage Sites<\/a> by UNESCO.<\/p>\n

Palau Bar\u00f3 de Quadras<\/strong> <\/a>is a petite\u00a0modernist palace with Neo-Gothic and Arabesque Neo-Mud\u00e9jar inspirations, built in the beginning of the 1900s, commissioned\u00a0by Baron de Quadras<\/strong> to prominent architect\u00a0Josep Puig i Cadafalch<\/strong>. The Baron wanted an old building to be renovated and to be transformed into something completely different and unique.<\/p>\n

The new building followed the norm of the new Eixample buildings of the time, presenting one ornate and impressive facade facing the street, where it could be admired by all passersby,\u00a0and a simple, unassuming facade on the back of the building, facing the inner courtyard.<\/p>\n

Josep Puig i Cadafalch<\/strong> hired some of the best artisans to help bring his idea to life, including Eusebi Arnau<\/strong> and Alfons Juyol<\/strong>, who are responsible for the stunning revival balcony that can be\u00a0seen from the outside. Another important name associated to the Palau<\/strong> is that of Manuel Ballar\u00edn i Lancuerta<\/strong>, who was one of the best ironworkers of the time.<\/p>\n

Today,\u00a0Palau Bar\u00f3 de Quadras<\/strong> houses the main offices of Institue Ramon Llull, after having been declared a\u00a0National Historical Monument of Artistic Interest.<\/p>\n
