No visit to Barcelona is complete for a sports fan<\/a> without a pit stop at\u00a0Museu Ol\u00edmpic i de l’Esport Joan Antoni Samaranch<\/strong><\/a>. Barcelona’s very own\u00a0Olympic and Sports Museum<\/strong> was inaugurated in 2007, right across from the Estadi Olympic Llu\u00eds Companys. The\u00a0museum’s<\/strong> name is an homage to former International Olympic Committee president Juan Antonio Samarach<\/strong>, who was also who donated a great part of the pieces featured in the museum.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0museum<\/strong>\u00a0invites people to go on a journey through the world of sports<\/strong>, presenting it as a universal language which knows no barriers. Visitors get to take a peek at all of the most famous sports<\/strong><\/a> that exist, through interactive exhibits and the display of historical pieces which have left a mark in the Olympic<\/strong> and\u00a0sports<\/strong> world.<\/p>\n

The museum<\/strong>\u00a0aims not only to entertain\u00a0but also to educate people about sports<\/strong>, helping them to understand that sports<\/strong> are not purely a form of exercise<\/a>, displaying the feats of memorable athletes who achieved greatness in their fields, and featuring exhibitions that illustrate how sports<\/strong> are practiced in different civilizations.<\/p>\n
