Born in 1850, <b>Falqu\u00e9s<\/b> had a profitable career, ascending to the coveted position of architect of the city at the age of 39 and holding the post between 1889 and 1914. An award-winning figure in his field, the architect worked on numerous projects within the city. These included churches, schools, and monuments amongst many others, as well as the light features that adorn\u00a0<b>Passeig de Gr\u00e0cia<\/b>.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_lampposts\"><\/span><i><\/i>The lampposts<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Built in 1906, the <strong>32<\/strong> <b>lampposts<\/b> on the boulevard all feature a bench structure at their base. Made out of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/mosaic-fresco\/\" target=\"_blank\">mosaic<\/a> &#8211; something that is often found in the architecture\u00a0of <b>Barcelona <\/b>&#8211;\u00a0and small ceramic pieces, the fragments glisten under the sunlight or indeed the light from the lamps directly above them, at night. Keep an eye out next time you are walking along the boulevard. Just off <b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/las-ramblas-a-tourist-epicenter-in-barcelona\/\" target=\"_blank\">Las Ramblas<\/a>\u00a0<\/b>you will find one of the most beautiful squares of the city, <b>Pla\u00e7a Reial<\/b>. Standing in the plaza, it is hard to miss two very imposing and ornate lampposts.
