Born in the 1970s, permaculture<\/strong> was initially linked to sustainable agriculture<\/strong>. The name itself meant \u201cpermanent agriculture<\/strong>\u201d expressing the concept of designing crops and kitchen gardens fully integrated into their natural surroundings, respecting their environment<\/strong><\/a> and, at the same time, providing food in a permanent way. However, the word has gained a wider meaning and is now related to \u201cpermanent culture<\/strong>\u201d. Nowadays, permaculture<\/strong> promotes the design of communities<\/strong> that develop and grow in harmony with their environment. Permaculture<\/strong> is, then, highly connected with the blossoming\u00a0of eco-villages<\/strong> around the world.<\/p>\n

Because of that deep relation with nature, permaculture<\/strong> is based on several principles\u00a0and ethical values such as \u201cEarth Care<\/strong>, People Care<\/strong> and Fair Share<\/strong>\u201d. Thus all the actions taken under permaculture<\/strong> design should:<\/p>\n

1. Take the most benefit from the land with the least amount of damage, respecting the landscape and all involved beings;
\n2. Take care of oneself and the community in general, highlighting that each one of us should be responsible for ourselves and our descendants;
\n3. Profits should be shared with equity, establishing limits for consumption (and reproduction!) and redistributing the surplus.<\/p>\n
