This <strong>park<\/strong> stands upon what was formerly Barcelona&#8217;s slaughterhouse district in Eixample Esquerra and was the first public park to be built after the fall of Francisco Franco&#8217;s dictatorship. \u00a0Filled with a variety of trees, plants, and waterways, this space can be used for countless recreational activities. \u00a0However, standing 22 meters above the park is a Mir\u00f3 masterpiece,\u00a0<em>Dona i Ocell. \u00a0<\/em>This brightly-colored cement <strong>sculpture\u00a0<\/strong>was completed around 1983 and placed in the park shortly thereafter. \u00a0This is a must for any art lover, and as it is a short walk from Pla\u00e7a Catalunya it&#8217;s easily accessible by public transportation.<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"El_Cap_de_Barcelona\"><\/span>El Cap de Barcelona<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><img class=\"wp-image-103066 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Webp.net-compress-image-2.jpg\" alt=\"Cap de Barcelona - Joan Mir\u00f3 - Discover Barcelona\" width=\"154\" height=\"231\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Keeping an eye over Port Vell is <em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/El_Cap_de_Barcelona\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">El Cap de Barcelona<\/a>,\u00a0<\/em>a pop-art wonder created by Roy Lichtenstein. \u00a0This <strong>sculpture<\/strong> was created to put on display for the 1992 Olympics held in the city and has been placed at the waterfront since. \u00a0The artist has said that this statue was created with Barcelona in mind and as a tribute to Gaud\u00ed, it&#8217;s most famous patron of the arts, due to its bold colors and <strong>mosaic<\/strong> tiles. \u00a0<em>El Cap de Barcelona<\/em> was created as an abstract piece but it shows the face of a woman, looking out over the sea from her position about 65 feet above ground. \u00a0This work of art is a favorite among tourists who stop to snap a pic of one of Barcelona&#8217;s most iconic statues.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Raval_Cat\"><\/span>The Raval Cat<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Botero-cat.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-66544\"><img class=\" wp-image-66544 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Botero-cat-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Botero cat\" width=\"307\" height=\"230\" \/><\/a>Slinking through the Rambla del Raval is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.homagetobcn.com\/raval-cat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" class=\"broken_link\">The Raval Cat<\/a>, a sculpture by Colombian artist Fernando Botero. \u00a0Known for his style of full-figured characters, this chubby kitty is a popular meeting point in one of Barcelona&#8217;s more <strong>colorful<\/strong> areas. This bronze feline has a fun and adventurous air about him which certainly makes him right at home in the Raval neighborhood. \u00a0The Raval Cat was placed in the Rambla del Raval about 13 years ago and before that his home was Parc de la Ciutadella. Snap a selfie with the cat or if you&#8217;re feeling adventurous you can climb up on his back for a better view.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Anything_by_Gaudi\"><\/span>Anything by Gaud\u00ed<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Gaudi-house.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-66559\"><img class=\"size-medium wp-image-66559 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Gaudi-house-274x300.jpg\" alt=\"Gaudi house\" width=\"274\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>Gaud\u00ed is synonymous with Barcelona. \u00a0You can&#8217;t visit this city and leave without having seen the Sagrada Fam\u00edlia or Parc G\u00fcell, or having a walk down Passeig de Gr\u00e0cia to see his iconic houses. \u00a0Gaud\u00ed and his <a href=\"http:\/\/www.globotreks.com\/destinations\/10-gaudi-buildings-barcelona\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">architecture<\/a>\u00a0are symbols of Barcelona and shape the idea of the style of art of Barcelona and Catalan art in general. \u00a0Walking down Passeig de Gr\u00e0cia you will find Casa Mil\u00e1 and Casa Batll\u00f3, both recognized by their soft, flowing lines,\u00a0unique style, and throngs of people in front taking in the beauty. \u00a0The same is true at\u00a0Sagrada Fam\u00edlia and\u00a0Parc G\u00fcell, but you can also find lesser-known Gaud\u00ed works in other places, such the mosaics in the Sant Andreu de Palomar church in Sant Andreu and on the Casa Vicens. \u00a0No trip to Barcelona is complete without seeing at least a few of these important parts of the culture of Barcelona.<\/p>\n<div style=\"display: none;\"\n    class=\"kk-star-ratings kksr-valign-bottom kksr-align-left \"\n    data-id=\"66532\"\n    data-slug=\"\">\n    <div class=\"kksr-stars\">\n    <div class=\"kksr-stars-inactive\">\n            <div class=\"kksr-star\" data-star=\"1\">\n            <div class=\"kksr-icon\" style=\"width: 25px;
