However, like any other major <strong>tourist destination<\/strong>, <strong>Barcelona<\/strong> has its fair share of attractions and experiences which cost a lot but can leave you with a sour taste in your mouth.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Whilst it&#8217;s effortless to spot the <strong>tourist traps\u00a0<\/strong>in our own countries,\u00a0we can&#8217;t seem to resist them when we are visitors in a new city. Whilst you should definitely take a walk down Las Ramblas, <em>do not<\/em> be lured into any of the overpriced and inauthentic restaurants \u00a0with waiters waving the menu in your face whilst shouting &#8220;paella and sangria, only \u20ac20!&#8221; Instead, walk a few streets back and find a more authentic place to eat for a fraction of the price. With so much information available to us these days, why not do some research before your trip &#8211; <strong>Barcelona<\/strong> has a wealth of amazing restaurants so long as you\u00a0know where to go.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Go_to_a_Flamenco_show\"><\/span>Go to a Flamenco show<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Flamenco<\/strong> comes from Andalusia and is not in keeping with <strong>Catalan<\/strong> tradition at all, so ignore the flyers and posters for &#8216;traditional Flamenco shows&#8217; (which are pretty pricey too) and soak up some <strong>Catalan<\/strong> culture instead.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"A_night_out_in_The_Port_Olimpic_district\"><\/span>A night out in The Port Ol\u00edmpic district<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"popmake-43254\">The, admittedly beautiful, marina area of <strong>Barcelona<\/strong> which was built for the Olympic games in 1992, forms part of <strong>Barcelona&#8217;s<\/strong> seafront, home to a number of nightclubs and bars popular with young partygoers. Like Las Ramblas, the drinks are expensive, the queues are long and the\u00a0atmosphere is distinctly not Spanish. If you fancy a night out or a few drinks somewhere frequented by locals, then avoid\u00a0<\/span><strong>Port Ol\u00edmpic<\/strong> at all costs. There are a plethora of interesting and traditional bars positioned all over the city, where you can enjoy a glass of <em>cava<\/em>\u00a0or <em>vermut.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Sangria_is_not_a_local_drink\"><\/span>Sangria is not a local drink!<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img class=\"wp-image-64399 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/sangira-e1457717251697-271x300.jpg\" alt=\"sangira\" width=\"245\" height=\"271\" \/><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Whilst sangria may not strictly qualify as a <strong>tourist trap<\/strong>, I feel obliged to say that it is most definitely not a typical <strong>Catalan<\/strong> drink and you will not find locals ordering it. Whilst it is served in most bars and restaurants owing to its popularity with tourists, you are likely to be served a combination of cheap wine and sugary fruit juice. If you want to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/where-to-drink-like-a-local-in-barcelona\/\" target=\"_blank\">drink like a local<\/a>, order a glass of <em>cava,<\/em> the &#8216;unofficial&#8217; drink of <strong>Barcelona<\/strong>. A glass is usually between \u20ac3 to \u20ac6, making it the much more affordable choice too.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Go_to_the_beach_in_Barcelona\"><\/span>Go to the beach in Barcelona<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Whilst Barceloneta beach is perfectly nice, you won&#8217;t find many locals there and in the summer months it&#8217;s brimming\u00a0with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/five-ways-to-avoid-being-an-annoying-tourist-in-barcelona\/\">annoying tourists<\/a>, it can be anything but relaxing. There so many beautiful <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/best-beaches-near-barcelona\/\">beaches<\/a> in Catalonia, which are much more secluded and are only a short train journey away. What&#8217;s more, train prices out of <strong>Barcelona\u00a0<\/strong>are very reasonable, so a day trip won&#8217;t burn a hole\u00a0in your pocket.
