The sanctuary receives farm animals that have been rescued from situations of abuse and exploitation, who are nursed back to health and given a peaceful, dignified life.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/cow-168638_960_720.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-61599\"><img class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-61599\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/cow-168638_960_720-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"santuario gaia\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" \/><\/a>The sanctuary\u2019s main goals are to provide the animals with good food, veterinary care, quality shelter, security and peace. <strong>Santuario Gaia<\/strong> is deeply in tuned with the animal world, knowing the importance of the animals\u2019 emotions. The animals that arrive at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.santuariogaia.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><strong>Santuario Gaia<\/strong> <\/a>have suffered, living in a\u00a0situation of pain, fear and neglect, which is why healing them emotionally, is so important in order to give them quality of life.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Santuario Gaia<\/strong> was founded by Coque Fern\u00e1ndez Abella, veterinarian, and Ismael Lopez Dobarganes, two generous people with a good heart, who are sensitive to the hardships animals have to endure in today\u2019s society. If you visit <strong>Santuario Gaia<\/strong>, you may get to meet Estel y Llum, two broiler chicken, Rita, a gorgeous 20 year old cow, Dani and Araceli, two young little goats, the lovely Natalia, a female duck, and many others.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Volunteering_at_Santuario_Gaia\"><\/span><strong>Volunteering at Santuario Gaia<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you are an animal lover and would like to help Coque and Ismael, you have the opportunity of <strong>volunteering<\/strong> <strong>at<\/strong> <strong>Santuario Gaia<\/strong>. There are two types of <strong>volunteering<\/strong>: the short <strong>volunteering<\/strong> and the <strong>long volunteering.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To <strong>volunteer<\/strong> for just a small amount of time, you need to guarantee <strong>Santuario Gaia<\/strong> that you can give them one day a month.\u00a0 You should know how to speak Spanish, in order to communicate with the group, be a responsible person, hard worker and to be in good physical shape. You will take part of activities like feeding the animals, cleaning their spaces, helping to fix what needs fixing, and caring for the animals that need medical attention.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you would like to <strong>volunteer<\/strong> for longer, you can actually spend some time living at <strong>Santuario Gaia<\/strong>. You will work at the sanctuary 6 days a week and have one day off. Being a <strong>volunteer<\/strong> is a serious commitment. There may be days when you will have to work outside in cold, rainy weather, wake up at dawn. It may sound like hard work, but the emotional rewards are priceless.
