Walking in the lovely area of Carrer Bailen, close to Arc de Triomf, you will stumble upon an exciting and unique store by the name of Madame Chocolat<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Madame Chocolat<\/strong> is a relatively new business, the only steampunk<\/strong> store in Barcelona.<\/p>\n

\"clothes<\/a>For those of you who are not familiarized with the term, steampunk<\/strong> refers to a subgenre of fantasy and science fiction with technology and aesthetic designs inspired by nineteenth-century industrial steam-powered machines. It is a modern and very hot genre in literature right now, with stories that are usually set in an alternate historical version of nineteenth-century British Victorian era, or the American Wild West.<\/p>\n

The steampunk<\/strong> fashion doesn\u2019t have any particular rules, but it is heavily influenced by the Victorian era, often featuring corsets, petticoats, bustles, top hats, tailcoats, and military-inspired garments.<\/p>\n

Madame Chocolat <\/strong>is a dream come true for all the girls who love the steampunk<\/strong> style, where they can find intricate dresses, long and short skirts, ruffled shirts, gorgeous jackets, cool t-shirts, sexy and bad-ass corsets and shoes.<\/p>\n

But the store also offers other styles of clothing. Lolita<\/strong> is a more feminine and delicate style, with brighter colors and extra ruffles;\u00a0Gothic<\/strong> focuses on darker themes and colors; Punk and Visual Kei<\/strong> offers irreverent patterns and messages and pops of red color, and Fairy Kei & Harajuku <\/strong>and Gyaru<\/strong> have a lot of pink and a variety of fun designs.<\/p>\n

Besides the clothes, Madame Chocolat<\/strong> sells Japanese books and magazines, makeup, socks and stockings, and a very interesting selection of hats and hair accessories, including the horns from the movie \u201cMaleficent\u201d. The store also has a collection of fun purses<\/a> shaped like a popcorn box, a wrapped bubble gum, an Ouija board, a book, a watch, and of course, gothic and steampunk<\/strong>-themed purses.<\/p>\n

\"clothes<\/a>But Madame Chocolat<\/strong> is not only a store. The establishment also has a room dedicated to events, particularly those related to the styles represented by its clothing<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Madame Chocolat<\/strong> has an online store where you can browse and purchase items, but I recommend you pay a visit to the store, so you can experience the steampunk\/goth<\/strong> universe live.<\/p>\n

Madame Chocolat<\/strong> is open from Monday to Saturday, from 10:30 am to 2 pm, and 5 to 8:30 pm. The store is located at Carrer de Bail\u00e8n, 12, just off of Passeig de Sant Joan. The best way to get there is by using the red line (L1) of the subway and exiting at Arc de Triomf.<\/p>\n
