The governor wanted the child to renounce the Christian faith, which she refused to do. The governor condemned her to thirteen punishments, which included imprisonment, whipping, standing on fire, being rubbed with stones, being stuffed in a barrel with nails and sharp objects and shoved down a hill, and ultimately, crucifixion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The child was canonized in 663 AC, becoming <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.newadvent.org\/cathen\/05603a.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Santa Eulalia<\/a><\/strong>, one of the patron saints of Barcelona.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Cathedral\"><\/span>The Cathedral<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <strong>Cathedral<\/strong> is a tall building, about 90 meters high and 40 meters wide. Inside there are three naves, a large organ, various interior chapels and the altar. There is a gorgeous choir in the center of the main chapel with carved stalls, whose enclosure is ornamented with reliefs telling the story of <strong>Santa Eulalia<\/strong>. On the underground floor, visitors can see <strong>Santa Eulalia<\/strong>\u2019s sarcophagus.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Outside, there is a cloister with large green plants and a\u00a0beautiful <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/font-magica\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">fountain<\/a>. An emptied eggshell is placed on top of the water shooting from the fountain, which makes the egg keep rotating without falling, which resembles a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/contemporary-dance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">dance<\/a>. The <strong>Cathedral<\/strong> is open for visits every day of the week. If you <strong>visit the cathedral<\/strong> during the morning, between 8:30 m and 12:45 am, or \u00a0in the evening, after 5:45 pm, you can go in for free. If you visit the <strong>cathedral<\/strong> between 1 pm and 5 pm, prices are 7\u20ac per person, or 5\u20ac if you are a part of a large group.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Santa Eulalia\u2019s Cathedral<\/strong> is located at Pla de la Seu, inside the Gothic neighborhood.
