Reiki<\/strong> is an alternative form of healing<\/a> that was born in Japan. It is not a religious method, but rather a spiritual one, in which a person\u2019s energy<\/strong> is manipulated by a practitioner to help the patient.<\/p>\n

\"barcelona<\/a>The word Reiki<\/strong> is a combination of the words Rei, which means \u201cuniversal life\u201d and \u201cKi\u201d, which means \u201cenergy\u201d. Reiki<\/strong> practitioners believe that Reiki<\/strong> is the life energy<\/strong> that flows in all living beings\u00a0and that every being possesses healing energy inside itself.<\/p>\n

Reiki<\/strong> defends that the energy<\/strong> should flow freely inside one\u2019s body<\/strong>\u00a0and that when there are blockages or the energy starts running weak, symptoms of emotional or physical imbalance start appearing.<\/p>\n

Through energy manipulation during a session, the therapist helps to restore the energy\u2019s optimal flow.<\/p>\n

During a Reiki session<\/strong>, the patient will lie down on a massage table, fully clothed. Reiki<\/strong> uses only very light contact or no contact at all, with the practitioner\u2019s hands hovering over the areas that need attention. Some people feel tingling or a warming sensation in the areas being treated.<\/p>\n
