Located in the Sant-Montju\u00efc<\/strong> barrio, close to the Barcelona-Sants<\/strong> railway station<\/a>, Parque de la Espa\u00f1a Industrial<\/strong> is a modernist park that was built in 1985 by architects Luis Pe\u00f1a Ganchegui<\/a><\/strong>, Francesc Rius I Camps, Ant\u00f3n Pagola and Monserrat Ruiz. It was created by using the former site of La Espa\u00f1a Industrial<\/strong> an important textile factory that moved to Mollet de Vall\u00e8s.<\/p>\n

\"barcelona\"<\/a>The park has an area of 11 acres, in which you can find a variety of trees, a big plaza, an artificial lake, play areas, fountains and sports fields.<\/p>\n

Parque de la Espa\u00f1a Industrial<\/strong><\/a> is also home to a variety of statues like Alto Rhapsody<\/em> by Anthony Caro, Landa V<\/em> by Pablo Palazuelo, Los <\/em>bueyes de la abundancia<\/em> by Antoni Alsina, Torso de mujer<\/em> by Enric Casanovas, Venus Moderna<\/em> by Jos\u00e9 P\u00e9rez P\u00e9rez and Neptuno<\/em> by Manuel Fux\u00e1.<\/p>\n

International Exhibition<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Several of the statues were built for the International Exhibition<\/strong> in 1929, being taken out of storage in 1985 to become part of the park\u2019s decoration.<\/p>\n

One of the most interesting and most famous sculptures<\/strong> in the park is the one by Andr\u00e1s Nagel, called \u201cEl<\/strong> Dr\u00e1gon<\/strong>\u201d (The Dragon). Weighing 150 tons, this cast iron sculpture depicts a dragon coming out of a lake. The monumental work can be appreciated by adults as an impressive piece of art, and enjoyed by children as a\u00a0slide.<\/p>\n

\"barcelona\"<\/a>One of the defining traits of the park is the presence of the tall lighthouses that stand at the top of the white steps that lead down to the water. The combination of concrete and architecture that was preserved from the original factory give the park its distinctive industrial feel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Visit the park for a\u00a0nice family picnic, a relaxed afternoon reading by the trees, or a boat ride with the one you love.<\/p>\n

Parque de la Espa\u00f1a Industrial<\/strong> is located at Carrer de Muntadas, 1-37. The best way to get there using public transportation if by taking the red line (L1) of the subway<\/strong>, exiting at Pla\u00e7a de Sants, or the green (L3) or blue (L5) line, exiting at Sants Estaci\u00f3.<\/p>\n

You can also use buses<\/strong> number 32, 50, 78, 109, 115, D20 or Bus Tur\u00edstic<\/a><\/strong>, exiting at Estaci\u00f3 de Sants.<\/p>\n
