The museums that are free on the First Sunday of every month are: the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.museunacional.cat\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">MNAC<\/a> (the Catalan National Art Museum, in Montjuich) <a href=\"http:\/\/museuhistoria.bcn.cat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">MUHBA<\/a> (the History Museum of Barcelona), the Frederic Mar\u00e8s museum, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.museupicasso.bcn.cat\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Picasso Museum<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/museuciencies.cat\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Blue Museum<\/a> (in the Forum area, related to Natural Sciences). These last two are also open every Sunday afternoon from 3pm until closing time. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cccb.org\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">CCCB<\/a> (Centre Cultura Contempor\u00e0nia de Barcelona) and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mmb.cat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Maritime Museum<\/a> are free every Sunday afternoon as well.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, some <strong>exhibitions<\/strong> and <strong>Art Centres<\/strong> are always free, like the exhibitions in <a href=\"http:\/\/palaurobert.gencat.cat\/en\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Palau Robert<\/a> (on top of Passeig de Gr\u00e0cia), in <a href=\"http:\/\/lameva.barcelona.cat\/barcelonacultura\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">La Virreina<\/a> (specialised in Visual Arts) or in the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.artssantamonica.cat\/Inici_live2\/CALENDARI\/tabid\/135\/language\/en-US\/Default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"> Arts Santa M\u00f2nica<\/a> (in the lower part of the Rambla, near Drassanes and the Colombus statue). One of the most famous venues for open air cinema is in the <strong>Castle of Montjuich<\/strong>, but the tickets are not free. However, there are other alternatives that are totally free, like <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cinemalliure.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Cinema Lliure<\/a><\/strong> at the Sant Sebastia <img class=\" wp-image-56427 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/freethings-300x188.jpg\" alt=\"freethings\" width=\"279\" height=\"175\" \/>beach, offering films all July until mid August, or<strong> Gandules<\/strong> in the courtyard of CCCB, this year offering a cycle on films about love every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during the month of August. The <strong>Civic Centres<\/strong> in the different neighbourhoods of the city also program free cinema sessions during the summer, for example in Sants,<strong><span class=\"removed_link\" title=\"http:\/\/www.cotxeres.org\/cinemaestiu\/index.htm\"> Les Cotxeres de Sants<\/span><\/strong> offers films every Thursday in July. Free concerts<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you are passionate about music and want to enjoy it in an open air space, Barcelona has also options for you in the summer. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ub.edu\/vespres\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Vespres a la UB<\/a><\/strong> offers <strong>free concerts<\/strong> by artists performing different styles every Tuesday and Thursday <img class=\" size-medium wp-image-56433 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/freethings6-300x194.jpg\" alt=\"freethings6\" width=\"300\" height=\"194\" \/>until the 18th of July in the beautiful gardens on the back of the Historical Building of the Universitat de Barcelona . There are also food trucks and bars in the area so you can eat something or have a drink. If you are more into classical music or jazz, then <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/ajuntament.barcelona.cat\/habitaturba\/ca\/serveis\/la-ciutat-funciona\/educacio-i-sensibilitzacio\/programes-deducacio-i-sensibilitzacio\/musica-als-parcs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Musica als Parcs<\/a><\/strong> is your thing: lots of free concerts in different formats in parks and gardens all over the city, some of them not very touristic or visited, so it\u2019s a good chance to enjoy some good music and discover new places!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There are other interesting alternatives if you are willing to step out of the borders of the city and travel to the outskirts. In L\u2019Hospitalet, between the 9th and 12th of July, the <strong>Petit Format<\/strong> festival offers free \u00a0concerts by Spanish indie bands in an enchanting space: the Can Sumarro gardens. You can get there easily by metro (red line, Avda. Carrilet or Rbla Just Oliveras metro stops).
