Located near the end of Rambla de Santa M\u00f2nica, Arts Santa M\u00f2nica <\/strong>is a creativity center<\/strong> installed on the former Santa M\u00f2nica<\/strong> Monastery.<\/p>\n

\"arts2\"<\/a>This eighteenth-century building used to house the order of the Augustinos Descalzos (Barefoot Augustines) was declared a historical-artistic national monument<\/strong> in 1984. Four years later, the building started being used as an exhibition room, which had its official opening on May 17th<\/sup> 1988 with the \u201cEl surrealismo en Catalu\u00f1a, 1924-1936\u201d exhibit.<\/p>\n

Since then, the center has received more than 150 exhibits<\/strong> and hundreds of conferences. The building went through several restoration processes<\/strong>, changing its name and focus many times during the years. Between 1988 and 1995 it was known as Centre d\u2019Art Santa M\u00f2nica. In 2003 it became known as CASM, which was replaced by Arts Santa Monica<\/a>, Centre de la Creatividad<\/strong> in 2009.<\/p>\n

The center\u2019s main goal is to study, interpret, produce and exhibit contemporary art<\/a>, with great focus on works by Catalan artists.<\/p>\n

During the summer visitors can see the exhibit Unseen<\/a><\/strong>, a collection of photos by actress Jessica Lange<\/strong>; This is the cover of a book<\/strong> (installation); Inventar lo possible. <\/strong>Una videoteca ef\u00e9mera en el marco del festival loop<\/strong> (colective exhibit), N\u00faria G\u00fcell. Mesures de Desajust. <\/strong>Cicle trets enemig del concert<\/strong> (exhibit), RCR Arquitectes: Paper<\/strong> and X-Ville de Jordi Colomer<\/strong> (exhibit).<\/p>\n

The center is also responsible for a series of projects<\/strong> such as Arxiu_Dossiers<\/strong>, a project that gathers dossiers about various generations of artists living and\/or working in Catalonia, creating the opportunity to make Catalan art available to more people.<\/p>\n

Free entry<\/h2>\n

\"arts1\"<\/a>Arts Santa M\u00f2nica<\/strong>, which offers free entry<\/strong>, \u00a0is open from Tuesdays to Saturdays between 11 am and 9 pm, staying open only until 5 pm on Sundays and holidays.<\/p>\n

The center offers guided tours<\/strong> every Saturday at 6 pm and Sundays at 12 am. If you are interested in a guided tour, book your place<\/a> <\/strong>in advance.<\/p>\n

To get to Arts Santa M\u00f2nica<\/strong> by public transportation you can take the green line (L3) of the subway<\/strong>, stopping at Drassanes<\/strong>, or take one of the following buses: <\/strong>14, 20, 21, 36, 57, 59, 64.<\/p>\n
