{"id":54048,"date":"2015-06-06T21:35:49","date_gmt":"2015-06-06T19:35:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/?p=54048"},"modified":"2017-03-23T09:59:04","modified_gmt":"2017-03-23T08:59:04","slug":"tedxbarcelona-women","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/tedxbarcelona-women\/","title":{"rendered":"TEDxBarcelona Women"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This year the <strong>Casino de Poblenou<\/strong> receives the 2015 edition of <strong>TEDxBarcelona Women<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>For those of you who are not familiar with <strong>TED<\/strong>, here\u2019s the scoop:<\/p>\n<p><strong>TED<\/strong> is an acronym that stands for <strong>Technology, Entertainment <\/strong>and<strong> Design<\/strong>. <strong>TED<\/strong> was founded 31 years ago, by the non-profit <strong>Sapling Foundation<\/strong> as one singular event, developing into an annual conference series in 1990.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ted.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">TED<\/a><\/strong>, whose slogan is \u201cIdeas Worth Spreading\u201d, gathers each year a group of <strong>lead thinkers and doers <\/strong>who speak to the audience about what they are most passionate about. <strong>TED<\/strong> started off by giving focus to technology and design. But as the conferences grew bigger and more famous, TED started to offer talks in various cultural, scientific and academic topics.<\/p>\n<p>Over the years the appeal of the TED conferences became so big, the foundation decided to create <strong>TEDx<\/strong>, self-organized events that gather people for a TED-like experience, allowing many countries to join in on the spirit of ideas worth spreading.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img class=\"  wp-image-54050 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/ted2-298x300.jpg\" alt=\"ted2\" width=\"159\" height=\"160\" \/>TEDWomen <\/strong>is yet another category where the speakers are mainly women.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s <strong>TEDxBarcelona Women<\/strong> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TEDxBarcelonaWomen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">speakers<\/a><\/strong> are: <strong>Aiona Irurre<\/strong>, the Vice President of Human Resources and Internal Communication Iberian Zone; singer-songwriter <strong>Amparo S\u00e1nchez<\/strong>, <strong>Mercedes Wullich<\/strong>, journalist and entrepreneur; <strong>Didac Lee<\/strong>, entrepreneur; <strong>Amaya Valdemoro<\/strong>, ex-basketball player; <strong>Ima Sanch\u00eds<\/strong>, journalist; <strong>Gemma Cernuda-Canelles<\/strong>, communications manager; Secretary General of the Swedish Men for Gender Equality <strong>Thomas Agnemo<\/strong>; filmmaker <strong>Amie Williams; BCN Roller Dance<\/strong>, a sporting, social and cultural organization; <strong>Daniel Epstien, <\/strong>entrepreneur; documentary filmmaker <strong>Kassidy Brown<\/strong> and communications expert <strong>Allison Rapson<\/strong>, partners in <strong>We are the XX<\/strong>; <strong>Les Salonni\u00e8res<\/strong>, an artist collective; French folk singer <strong>Swann<\/strong>; <strong>Fran\u00e7oise Laborde<\/strong>, Board Member of the Conseil sup\u00e9rieur de l\u2019audiovisuel; <strong>Gerardo Porteny Backal<\/strong>, founder of 5 NGOs; <strong>Patr\u00edcia Soley Beltran<\/strong>, ex-fashion model, actress and TV presenter; <strong>Soraya Chemaly<\/strong>, feminist writer, media critic and activist; journalist and author <strong>Mariane Pearl<\/strong>; Huffington Post and Linked In contributer <strong>Anne Ravanova<\/strong>, <strong>Nora Poggi<\/strong>,\u00a0 journalist; <strong>Chiara Condi<\/strong>, creator of Led by Her; <strong>Babou Olengha-Aaby<\/strong>, Ceo and Founder of Mums Mean Business; and <strong>Shelley Burdine Prevost<\/strong>, cofounder of <strong>JumpFund<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/ted3.jpg\"><img class=\" size-medium wp-image-54051 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/ted3-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"ted3\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>TEDxBarelona Women<\/strong> will take place on Wednesday, June 10<sup>th<\/sup>, from 10am to 8pm. Tickets are already sold out, but you can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TEDxBarcelonaWomen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><strong>register<\/strong> <\/a>for the live stream and watch the conferences from home.<\/p>\n<p>The event\u2019s first session is \u201c<strong>Invest in Women Globally<\/strong>\u201d, which lasts from 10 am to 12 am. The second session \u201c<strong>Invest in Women Locally<\/strong>\u201d starts at 12:30 am, finishing at 2pm.
