Marine life as an inspiration<\/h2>\n

Spanish architect, Antoni Gaud\u00ed<\/a> infused this creation with iridescent colours and familiar shapes found most often beneath the sea. Marine life was the inspiration for this stunning work of architectural, which can be seen quite clearly in the colours that feature in the fa\u00e7ade \u2013 colours very similar to those found in natural coral.<\/p>\n

Gaud\u00ed designed this staggering building for a gentleman called Josep Batll\u00f3, a very wealthy aristocrat. Batll\u00f3 and his family lived in the lower two floors of the building<\/a> whilst the upper floors were rented out as apartments<\/a> (pisos<\/em>) to the general public.<\/p>\n

Casa Batll\u00f3 is a stunning piece of work \u2013 one of the most unique buildings in the world, and is an absolute must-see on your forthcoming visit to Barcelona.<\/p>\n
