To create it, <strong>Dal\u00ed<\/strong> gave free rein to his genius, developing a unique piece of art where all of his other works could be exhibited. The building&#8217;s facade is quite picturesque, with a roof filled with egg-like sculptures and exterior walls covered in hundreds of representations of the &#8220;pa de crostons\u201d, a\u00a0typical bread of Figueres.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_irreverent_genius\"><\/span>The irreverent genius<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Through his paintings, sculptures, monumental installations, plays, films, photographs, and books, among others,\u00a0<strong>Salvador Dal\u00ed<\/strong>\u00a0became famous worldwide as a somewhat of mad and irreverent genius. One of the constants in his work was his wife and life partner Gala, very prevalent on the <strong>museum<\/strong> walls and in its most emblematic pieces displayed, such as\u00a0<em>Retrato de Gala con dos costillas de cordero en equilibrio sobre su hombro <\/em>(1933), <em>Leda at\u00f3mica <\/em>(1949)<em>, Galatea de las esferas <\/em>(1952).<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Things_to_look_out_for_during_your_visit\"><\/span>Things to look out for during your visit<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the <strong>museum&#8217;s<\/strong> central courtyard, you will find an astonishing installation made with a Cadillac, a boat, a column of tires and a reproduction of Michelangelo&#8217;s slave. If you position yourself strategically in the <strong>Mae West Room<\/strong>, this famous and provocative character will be revealed in front of you. Curiously enough, <strong>Dal\u00ed<\/strong> and Gala never actually lived together in the <strong>Castle.<\/strong> Gala is the one who would spend the most time there, while\u00a0<strong>Dal\u00ed<\/strong> would only pay visits to it. It was only after Gala&#8217;s death that\u00a0<strong>Dal\u00ed<\/strong> moved into the\u00a0<strong>Castle.\u00a0<\/strong>Many years later, in 1992, the\u00a0<strong>Castle<\/strong> was opened to the public as a <strong>museum.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Castillo Gala Dal\u00ed<\/strong>\u00a0is located at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.pt\/maps\/place\/Salvador+Dal%C3%AD+de+P%C3%BAbol\/@42.0149401,2.9833299,15z\/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x39ea52670e0ab84b!8m2!3d42.0149401!4d2.9833299\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Plaza Gala Dal\u00ed<\/a>, in Pub\u00f3l, Girona.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Casa Salvador Dal\u00ed<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Another place that should be included on your\u00a0<strong>Dal\u00ed<\/strong> tour of <strong>Girona<\/strong> is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salvador-dali.org\/ca\/museus\/casa-salvador-dali-de-portlligat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"><strong>Casa Salvador Dal\u00ed<\/strong><\/a>. This is the house where\u00a0<strong>Dal\u00ed\u00a0<\/strong>lived and worked from 1930 on, before moving to <strong>Castle of Pub\u00f3l\u00a0<\/strong>in 1982. The house has a very particular labyrinthine-like structure and it is decorated with a variety of surrealist and kitsch elements that were characteristic of the artist&#8217;s style.
