I recently had the opportunity to watch Woody Allen\u2019s beautiful movie Vicky Cristina Barcelona. It certainly brought a smile to my face. Would you like the opportunity to be able to follow the footprint of \u201cVicky, Cristina Barcelona\u201d? If you would then read on.<\/p>\n

Park Guell<\/p><\/div>\n

Begin your tour in the city\u2019s Raval District where you admire some of the amazing works of Antoni Gaudi. The first of these is Casa Vicens, which was built as a private family home and along from this you\u2019ll find Palau Guell. Both of these have now been given the honour of being classified as UNESCO Heritage Sites.<\/p>\n

Next move on to Passeig de Gracia and provides a real monument to the modernist movement. Here are located more of Gaudi\u2019s beautiful but strangely exuberant buildings, namely Casa Batio and La Pedrera. The great thing about this location is that if you want you to have the opportunity to be able to enter La Pedrera to take a tour through one of its period apartments before then exploring the funhouse on its rooftop and be amazed at the spectacular views it offers you of the city itself.<\/p>\n

In order to follow the footprint of \u201cVicky Cristina Barcelona,\u201d you now need to move higher up and into Parc Guell, which is yet another UNESCO Heritage Site. This beautiful park sits high above the city in the Vallcara District and contains some very beautiful mosaics that snake their way around it and from various points allows you some stunning views of Barcelona below. Also, it is here you will find Antoni Gaudi\u2019s home that has now been turned into a museum and where his life is celebrated.<\/p>\n

Of course, no such tour would be complete without a visit to La Sagrada Familia<\/a>. This is Gaudi\u2019s unfinished masterpiece due to his untimely death. A total of 12 spires should have been built, but only of them have been so far. Yet this is not the end of the story where this particular building is concerned as construction still continues and they hope to have all 12 towers built by 2030.<\/p>\n

Whilst visiting the church if you can stomach it make sure that you take a ride up into the rafters and the spires, before then coming back down using the stone steps. These offer you some truly amazing views of the gargoyles and mosaics that cover the exterior of the building.<\/p>\n

Next as part of your tour to follow the footprint of \u201cVicky Cristina Barcelona\u201d move on to Las Ramblas, making sure that you spend time exploring Mercat de la Boqueria. Here not only can you find some of the best product but you may be given the opportunity to try some really amazing delicacies that are part of this region of Spain’s culture.<\/p>\n

After you have spent much of the day exploring the city then end your tour by taking the 100-year-old funicular car up to Parc d\u2019Atraccions del Tibidabo<\/a>. Here you are offered some truly spectacular views of the city at twilight. The perfect place to take your partner if you are visiting Barcelona for a romantic weekend.<\/p>\n
