Locals love spending evenings (and nights) outside, especially during the weekend. So lately there is something called juernes<\/em> (a contraction of jueves<\/em> and viernes<\/em>), an outing that starts on Thursday and lasts well into Friday. Barcelona’s cinemas<\/strong><\/a> are usually full at the weekends, despite the many movies that are broadcasted on TV.<\/p>\n

Other leisure options in the Catalan capital are gambling venues, like casinos<\/strong><\/a> and bingo halls. The latter is very popular with many people of different ages. And although the origin of bingo is unknown, it is believed that Italy is the country where it first appeared.<\/p>\n

It quickly became popular throughout the rest of Europe, with France being one of the countries where it was most popular. This is where today\u2019s bingo<\/strong> game<\/strong><\/a> was developed: a bingo card with numbers, chips and numbers being called out loud. The game was initially for the wealthier class, but over the years it has become an interesting game for everyone.<\/p>\n

The rules of bingo are quite simple: everyone that participates in the game has a card with different numbers on it, and then one person starts calling out randomly picked numbers, one after another. Once you have crossed out all the numbers on your card, you yell \u201cbingo\u201d<\/strong> and you are the winner of that round.<\/p>\n
