This fair traditionally takes place on Avinguda de la Catedral, opposite of the <strong>Pla de la Seu<\/strong> in the <span class=\"removed_link\" title=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/barcelona-rent\/ciutat-vella\/gotic\"><strong>Gothic neighbourhood<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The fair offers all the products you could possibly need to decorate your home for Christmas, and visiting this traditional fair feels magical. Excitement for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/catalan-christmas\/\"><strong>Christmas<\/strong><\/a> season can be felt everywhere.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to tradition, in the eighteenth century young seamstresses from Catalan villages went around town singing songs on the day of <strong>Santa Ll\u00facia<\/strong>. From that moment on, the girls were called <em>&#8220;llucietes&#8221;<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At other times, a group of girls went door to door to sing their songs and collect alms. One of the girls represented St. Lucia and wore a wreath of flowers, and the others were her &#8220;cardinals&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dressmakers started meeting in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/ciutadella\/\"><strong>Parque de la Ciutadella<\/strong><\/a> in Barcelona, where they organized a party, and this is how the Fira de Santa Ll\u00facia originally began.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Since 1786 the Christmas fair has been organised in front of one of the most popular cathedrals in the city.
