Finally two worlds were connected, two worlds that hadn\u2019t known of each other\u2019s existence up until then.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After the <strong>United Nations<\/strong> established a way to celebrate Spanish speaking countries all over the world, October 12 is also known for being <strong>Spanish Language Day<\/strong> since the year 2014.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The fact that Columbus was the one who had discovered America, was not initially perceived that way, as he had never actually been fully aware of setting foot on American soil. <strong>He believed he had arrived in<\/strong> <strong>India<\/strong>, and that is why he called its inhabitants <strong>Indians<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">October 12 is also the day of another <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/feast-corpus-christi-barcelona\/\"><strong>festivity<\/strong><\/a>, as it coincides with the <strong>Day of the Virgin of Pilar<\/strong>. She is the patron saint of <strong>Zaragoza<\/strong> and <strong>Spain<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Dia_de_la_Raza_in_Latin_America\"><\/span>D\u00eda de la Raza in Latin America<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On <strong>October 12<\/strong> we celebrate <em>D<\/em><em>\u00eda de la Raza<\/em> in <strong>Latin America<\/strong>, <strong>Spain<\/strong>, the <strong>United States<\/strong> and some other countries. For years now, there have been campaigns to <strong>celebrate <em>D<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u00eda de los Pueblos ind<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u00edgenas<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the late 19th and early 20th century people had another problem with Columbus: some say <strong>the discovery of North America should be attributed to Erikson<\/strong>, who is believed to have discovered the area <strong>500 years before<\/strong> <strong>Columbus<\/strong> had.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Although October 12 is a national holiday, there are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/common-catalan-dishes\/\"><strong>Catalan<\/strong><\/a> <strong>independency<\/strong> <strong>organizations<\/strong> that have been refusing to celebrate D\u00eda de la Hispanidad for a couple of years now.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>What do you think of D\u00eda de la Hispanidad?
