Where to buy Scandinavian furniture in Barcelona

Made famous by Ikea, to purchase of Scandinavian design pieces and furniture is now a growing trend. Characterized by simplicity, functionality and minimalism, Scandinavian design is becoming more and more popular in Barcelona.

Here are some of the various Scandinavian design and furniture stores in Barcelona.

Noak Room

Founded in 2014 in the neighborhood of Poblenou, Noak Room is a design showroom specialized in Scandinavian vintage furniture and design. Each item is handpicked by owners Martin Noaksson and Sara Salas, all of them from the 50s, 60s or 70s. The furniture is imported from Denmark, Sweden and Norway. There are pieces from Tapiovaara, Atelje Lyktan, Fridhagen, Engström&Mystrand, Jacobson, among others.

Noak Room is located at Carrer Roc Boronat, 69.

Nordicthink

Nordicthink is another store that sells Scandinavian furniture, shelves, sofas, tables, baskets, cushions and even lighting, Nordicthink offers a little bit of everything that can be used for decoration. Their aim is to offer functional, simple and beautiful design.

You can browse Nordicthink’s online catalog, or visit the store at Consell de Cent, 412. Be sure to also check their toy section to discover some of Nordicthink’s delightful creations.

Flexa

Flexa is a brand that was founded in Denmark in 1972, specializing in the design, manufacturing and sales of Scandinavian interior solutions for kids. From beds to tables, slides, lamps, shelves and textiles, Flexa offers quality products that are designed to create a safe and stimulating environment that adapts, grows and transforms to meet kids’ developmental needs.

You can find Flexa at L’Illa shopping center at Carrer Deu i Mata 69-99, and La Maquinista shopping center at Paseo de Potosi, 2.

Gidlööf

Founded in El Born neighborhood in 2011, Gidlööf offers original vintage furniture from the fifties and the sixties, imported from the Scandinavian peninsula, particularly from Sweden.

The store was created by fashion designer Sofia Gidlööf and architect Guim Costa, both passionate about the world of design. The pair decided to venture in business together, offering unique pieces by some of the best brands from past decades like Mathsson and String.

Gidlööf and Costa have also developed their own line of furniture and textiles of Scandinavian influences called Gidlöof Originals. Each piece created in the Originals collection is one of a kind, built with natural materials like leather, cotton, and wood, with a finishing of water and wax. One of the pieces created by Guim Costa in the very first collection, an armchair, was a finalist at the Delta awards.

Gidlöof’s furniture is for sale but also for rent to cinema and television production.
