Sometimes traveling can get in the way of watching your favorite sports, and this becomes even more important when you are traveling during an event that only happens every four years such as the World Cup of football, or soccer as it is referred to in North America.
No matter which country you are traveling from, your visit to Barcelona can include watching the World Cup with others of your nationality by seeking out the right locations.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup begins on June 14th with the Russia vs. Saudi Arabia match at 5 p.m. and lasts until July 15th.

Alternative Options
There is always the option to head to a local sports bar or pub to watch your favorite sporting events in almost any major city around the world.
However, what are the alternative options for watching the World Cup while visiting Barcelona?
Firstly, most international hotel chains have bars and restaurants and you can watch the World Cup on one of their many TVs.
The second option, if you are a person that enjoys their seclusion is to watch the game on a hotel TV but you may want to call ahead to inquire boat what sports channels are included or available in your hotel room.
Your last alternative option could include watching the games streamed over the Internet on your mobile device with an appropriate streaming plan.

Unfortunately, there are no scheduled public viewings of the FIFA 2018 World Cup on big screens in Barcelona.
However, you can organize your own viewing party out in the city! Of course, the number one option for a lively
environment within to watch the 2018 FIFA World Cup football action is in the city’s largest sports bars, pubs and restaurants.
Here are some options:
Sports Bar Rambles – located in Las Ramblas is the largest sports bar in the city with 16 high definition TVs and many other site activities to enjoy before and after the big game.
Similar to a large American sports bar, this one offers a varied menu, lots of beers on tap and in the bottle and a great sports atmosphere.
If you are in Barcelona and are looking for the latest major league game this is the place to be.
Irish bars – if you are looking for a little bit more of a pub feel, most of the Irish bars around the city show football games consistently with an Irish pub style.
Great examples of Irish bars in Barcelona include Flaherty’s Irish Bar, The George Payne, The Quiet Man or The Irish Sailing Club Pub.
International Bars – the Irish are not the only ones running bars in town.
Belushi’s is an English pub offering sports on big screens; Devil’s Kitchen is an option for a German bar; Sonora is an American-style bar with American draft beer; and the Paris Taxi French Bar, of course, offers a French-style bar.
You can find many other options by looking in local directories for cultural food and bar-style service, many of which offer TVs for sports viewing.
Take time to learn about where the sports bars are around your flat rental in Barcelona for an enjoyable time watching the World Cup.

Hi Thomas, I´m another contributor tothis blog. Unfortunately there are not any public big-screen viewings scheduled in Barcelona for that game. It´s possible that there may be one organized later in the World Cup schedule depending on how Spain advances.

I have that very same question. I will be in Barcelona on June 15th and wanted to catch the Spain v Portugal game as well. Hoping for more than the sports bar experience, I would think that this is a big match and there might be large area to watch as Thomas mentioned in a prior post.
