The Escribà pastry: the most spectacular cakes Barcelona

The motto of this historic bakery in Barcelona is “we don’t only bake cakes, we also create dreams“. This gives you an idea of its philosophy and the special sweets that come out of their ovens and are sold in its stores from the Ramblas and the Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes since 1906. Their cakes are truly oeuvres of art that you will feel sorry to eat if you’re lucky enough to afford a personalized and unique cake. Anyway, they also produce other amazing products with an unmistakably original touch as nougats, Easter cakes, candy rings, candies, bars, wedding cakes, chocolates, etc. Christian Escribà, currently responsible for the business, is the master pastry (similar to the figure of Willy Wonka in its Catalan version) and even has appeared in the British version of the TV show Masterchef with Ferran Adrià. A sweet landmark that ShBarcelona recommend you to visit.

If you walk past the window of the pastry Escribà you couldn’t take your eyes off of it or stop to take a look at the amazing creations that are exposed on it. You can also take a tea, some hot chocolate or a delicious coffee in the back room. They have also delicious Sachertorte with a edible candy drop dispenser, cheese and lemon small dome-shaped, or a crisp white chocolate cake. Is your mouth already wathering?

Besides the stores, Escribà also have an academy that bears the same name in which courses and workshops with renowed teachers are taught under the “Escribà Method”. This method is to dazzle, excite and evoke special feelings on the people that eat the cakes and sweets so they won’t forget that moment and the original creations, which take into account new trends and technologies, whether in basic or advanced baking techniques. There are currently some courses being taught as Anglo pastry classes by Carlos Lischetti, and courses to learn how to bake cakes and various desserts by Christian Escribà himself or by his wife Patricia Schmidt. This academy is not cheap, but it is the right place to learn if you want to be a successful professional in this sector.

We recommend you visit the Escribà’s website with such a fun and original design as their pastry creations.
