According to a study by website suggestme.com, Barcelona has been ranked the fourth most prolific city for ‘selfies’ taken by both locals and tourists.
The study, which analyzed 6.3 million Tweets, Facebook posts and Instagram uploads found that the Catalan capital’s most popular locations for selfies (which refers to the trend of taking a self portrait of yours truly, often in iconic locations) are Barcelona’s many beaches; the football stadium that is home to the best football team in the world (apparently), Camp Nou; and of course, Gaudi’s as yet unfinished homage to the surreal, the Sagrada Familia.
Camp Nou even has a competition running on its website for best selfie of the day, week and month.
New York came second in the study with the iconic Statue of Liberty and Times Square featuring largely; and Amsterdam came in at third place with its beautiful Van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseum.
Other cities that appeared in the top ten list included Paris, Berlin, Sydney, Rome, Athens and Istanbul.
