Sarrià-Sant Gervasi is one of the largest districts in Barcelona. The oldest part of the district is the village of Sarria – which is thought to date all the way back to the year 987 when the village was inhabited by a Roman colony. Whilst this ancient village has become the center of what is one of the most affluent districts in the city, it has not lost its charm or village atmosphere. Below are a few of the various neighborhoods that make up the district of Sarrià-Sant Gervasi.

This part of Sarria Santa Gervasi is made up of two areas – Farró and El Putget. Farró is a quaint neighborhood comprised of idyllic small roads, with warm and friendly bars and restaurants lining the streets. This is a great place to go if you want to have a relaxing stroll. El Putget is situated around a hill which has been turned into a beautiful park – the area is more contemporary and doesn’t contain the tiny roads of Farró. That is not to say that the area isn’t worth a visit. The interesting modern architecture still makes for a nice visit.
This is perhaps the most traditional part of Sarrià-Sant Gervasi and is the cultural hub of the district. The area has a lot of charm, the locals are inviting and proud of the history of the district. A great place to amble around, admire the traditional architecture and soak up the atmosphere in what is the heart of the district.

These three areas of Sarrià-Sant Gervasi include some very special attractions. Most notably Tibidabo, a beautiful mountain overlooking Barcelona which has become one of the city’s most popular tourist attractions. Its beautiful church and old-fashioned amusement park make for an incredible day trip. What’s more, when you visit the park or the surrounding region you are treated to some of the best views of the city.
There are also the areas of Sant Gervasi-La Bonanova and Les Tres Torres which are both lovely parts of the district.
All in all, there is a lot to see and do in the district of Sarrià-Sant Gervasi. From visiting the spectacular Tibidabo to walking along the beautiful narrow streets in the Galvani neighborhood, this ancient district is sure to fascinate you.
