San Miguel Mas i Mas Festival: Your musical summer in Barcelona

If just you can’t get enough of all the cultural life in Barcelona, you’re in luck. We know of a music festival who won’t cease to give you more and more during the summer of 2016. Starting July 27 and going on until September 4, the San Miguel Mas i Mas Festival will present over 220 live music shows in five different Barcelona venues.

Artists & Venues

Including styles as different as techno, classical, jazz and pop, Mas i Mas (which is Spanish for “more and more”) has a versatile schedule that promises to satisfy the taste of every music lover in Barcelona. Some of the five venues where the festival will take place are dedicated to a specific genre, while the schedule of others mixes several different styles.

Legendary Barcelona dance club Jamboree will feature only jazz concerts, with its program including artists such as the John Abercrombie Quartet, Ray Gelato & Claire Martin, Jesper Thile and the Ronald Baker Quartet.

A popular nightclub located in the heart of downtown Barcelona, Moog will host frenetic nights with the best of contemporary techno music. Scheduled acts include Clip!, DJ Smug, Polar Inertia and Dave Tarrida.

This flamenco bar will host three 30-minute sessions of flamenco every night from August 1 to 31. Artists Pol Vaquero, Isaac & Companía, Pure Art, La Puente and Marina González y Lorena Franco will be responsible for several nights each.

Palau de la Música

This venue will be the place to see larger-than-life vocalists, piano concerts and plenty of classical music. Some of the highlights of its schedule are new flamenco legend Martirio, Mallorca-born singer Maria del Mar Bonet and the Nexus Piano Duo.

El Born

Perhaps the most eclectic venue of the festival, the El Born Cultural Centre will be a home for soul/funk, blues, jazz, classical music and even bolero. Amadeu Casas, Sara Pi, Clara Peya and Trio Pedrell are just some of the artists you shouldn’t miss.

Tickets are sold separately for each concert and you can get them either at the venues or online at the official website of San Miguel Mas i Mas Festival 2016. Prices are different for each show but are mostly in the 15-30€ range.
