La Garriga is the perfect place to escape the busy city of Barcelona, to relax, and to get back in touch with nature. It’s only a short 40-minute train ride outside of Barcelona, and it’s a great choice for a weekend getaway. If you enjoy exercise and the great outdoors, then La Garriga is the place for you. The town has two main cycling routes and numerous other smaller routes. The visitor center is right beside one of the main routes which leads directly to the beach at Sant Adrià del Besòs. La Garriga is surrounded by mountains and part of a protected natural park called Montseny, so there are also lots of hiking trails that take you into deep, green forests.

La Garriga is renowned for its thermal baths, and they are a great way to relax after a long day of hiking or just de-stress from the busy city life. The hot springs are located in two luxury hotels, Blancafort Hotel and Hotel Termes La Garriga. In Hotel Blancafort, you can have unlimited access to the thermal baths and pools if you stay there. If you choose to stay somewhere else, you can go to the hotel and ask to use their pools and baths. It’s usually €32 for 2-hours of access. Blancafort also offers massages, but they are quite expensive. Hotel Termes La Garriga is smaller than its counterpart, but it offers a more classical style. Both of these spas are in the center of the town, a short walk from the train station.

La Garriga is steeped in history from the Ancient Romans to the Medieval times. You can see some of the most famous pieces of architecture along the main street of El Passeig. Along this street, you will find the old homes of the wealthy residents which were built during the 19th and 20th centuries. These extravagant old houses are amazing to see, and you can go along Villa Termal y de Veraneo for a self-guided tour or research formal tour options on the La Garriga tourism website. You can also visit Espai Castell de Rosanes, an old castle-turned-restaurant where you can lounge, eat, and drink outdoors in the medieval castle.

Lastly, the market opens every Saturday is a must-see for visitors. It’s an authentic city market where you can buy locally produced food, crafts, and unique pieces of clothing. It’s set in the center of the village and runs from 7 am to 2 pm.
Overall, La Garriga is a beautiful small town with cobblestoned streets filled with lots of little boutiques and cafés. With its beautiful countryside and thermal baths, this small Catalan town has a lot to offer.
