Festival cine Sitges 2016

Do you consider yourself a film lover? If so, you should mark the following dates on your calendar: 7 to 16  of October. Not only is Sitges a beautiful seaside town definitely worth a visit, but it also has one of the most important film events in Europe: the Sitges Film Festival.

In case you have never heard of this even, let me tell you a little bit about it. Sitges is the International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalunya. But not just any fantastic film festival – it is considered to be the best one in the world. Sci-fi, fantasy, thriller, and drama – anything that has a touch of something fantastical can be seen at Sitges. It is also a great event for those who want to discover the new tendencies and technologies applied in filmmaking.

Every year, the Sitges festival receives visits from the best directors and movie stars of the world. Check out some of the names that have been on the guest list of the festival: Quentin Tarantino, David Cronenberg, Jodie Foster, Viggo Mortensen, Terry Gilliam, Darren Aronofsky, Kim Ki-Duk, Takashi Miike, Wim Wenders.

Sitges 2016 takes place all around the city of Sitges, making it almost impossible to miss it.

The tickets for the Sitges Film Festival are available online on the official  festival website. Prices start at 4,50 euros (first morning screening) and end at 350 euros (auditori vip seat pass).

Two good options of tickets are the Carnet Jove Pack for 30€ (5 screenings of your choice) and the Fan Pack (10 tickets for screenings your choice).


There is a train that runs between 9 and 18 October, a direct train from Sitges to Barcelona Sants, with departure from Sitges at 1h30 in the night. The tickets and transit passes are also valid to visit Sitges, if bought in the correct zones. All schedules can be found at Rodalies de Catalunya and Mon-bus.
