El Ciclo Barcelona

Written by Brian S

Touring by bike is a popular trend in major cities around the world as it’s an easy way to explore, especially in places where tour buses can’t go. By bike, people can ride through narrow streets and reach corners not usually seen along the main routes. Barcelona’s hectic streets and old neighborhoods are perfect for bike tours. There’s one place where tourists can rent a bike and travel freely or go on a private tour through the lanes of Barcelona. It’s a small homegrown business known as El Ciclo, “the cycle.”

About El Ciclo

El Ciclo is a small, original bike rental shop in a century-old building in the center of Barcelona. Owner Ramiro Sobral is a true bicycle lover who, after years of cycling in different places and fixing old bikes as a hobby, decided to open his own bicicletería in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona. El Ciclo is a great place to visit if you want to rent a bike and his shop also offers city bike tours with a guide. All guides are Barcelona locals who take you to see the highlights of the city as well as the hidden places off the beaten track. Ramiro also uses old bicycle parts to create amazing art pieces that can be purchased at the shop. In 2014, he won the Emerging Artist Award and the Residu’Art Awards at the Drap-Art Festival.

Barcelona is a perfect city to discover by bike, and El Ciclo offers high-quality bikes for rent, giving riders a perfect day around the city seeing all the sights conveniently. They have different bikes for kids of all ages, child seats, a tandem bike, and a carrier cycle with locks and helmets included.

On their bamboo bicycles, they offer bike tours in different languages, including English, with a personal guide. All bamboo bikes are 100% handmade in Argentina and real eye-catchers, so you won’t go unnoticed in the city. The guides know the streets very well and will go to those charming spots you might not have discovered on your own. They also offer special tours of Barcelona’s street art.

More Than A Bike Rental

El Ciclo goes beyond bike rentals and private tours for tourists and locals, selling a unique collection of bike-based lamps and other art pieces and accessories. They have been selected by Sobral for bicycle lovers looking for an original souvenir or gift. You will also find beautiful bamboo bicycles and other special bikes there, such as ‘the Roulandt,’ the first recumbent bike to be produced in mass, as well as Sobral’s private collection of miniature bicycles.
