Cold pressed – the best juices in Barcelona

Fresh fruit or vegetable juice has become the symbol of a healthy lifestyle, and some might say these natural drinks are also a bit of a hipster phenomenon nowadays. Therefore, most modern cities have at least a few nice juice bars, many of them specialising in organic juices and offering a variety of healthy products, such as the very popular smoothies.

Barcelona is surely one of the top places in the world when it comes to drinks of any kind, and the intensity of the Mediterranean summer makes all types of beverages an instant hit in this city. In this post we will give you a few examples of the cosiest and coolest juice-focused cafeterias to discover – if not for the very fashionable health-consciousness, try these bars for a delicious taste experience!

Before getting into the subject of actual juice bars, it is worth mentioning that most markets have fruit stalls, and often there is fresh juice on offer as well. For example La Boquería, the classic tourist favourite among Barcelona markets has a nice selection of juices. And since nowadays a juice list is somewhat of a necessity for any cafeteria or restaurant that wants to appeal to a hip audience, you do tend to find juices in any modern-looking restaurant. Barcelona is of course known for tapas and meat, along with those small corner coffee bars, but younger consumers many have a different and more international taste. An example of a good restaurant where juices form an important part of the menu is Granja Petitbo, an international eatery on the right side of Eixample.

Bars and cafeterias that actually specialise in juices or natural products are many in the city, and often there is an effort to source locally and from organic farms. One of the restaurants that has made juice a cornerstone of their offering is The Juice House situated in Poble Sec. They offer a variety of health and well-being based options with an ethical emphasis as well. In the center there is the classic and excellent vegetarian restaurant Teresa Carles that now has a “sister” called  Flax&Kale. There you can find juices from the label Teresa’s Juicery. For those wanting to get an organic drink, you should head to Woki Organic Market on Passeig de Sant Joan, Ronda Universitat or Carrer d’Astùries.
