Have a cheap bite to eat in Eixample

Barcelona is known as one of the most important gastronomic cities in Spain because of its innovative restaurants and chefs, deep roots in traditional Spanish and Catalan cuisine, and mix of different cultural dishes.  Eixample is one of the most beautiful districts in Barcelona offering a plethora of renowned restaurants.  However beautiful Eixample is though it can be expensive at times, so here is a list of some places where you can fill up without feeling the pinch.  From tapas to pizza to traditional Catalan cuisine, there are several options out there that will leave your stomach happy and your wallet even happier.  Eating on a budget has never been more exciting in Eixample!

El Nou de Granados

A low-cost lunch option is El Nou de Granados with the mid-day menu costing €11.50 for three courses, bread, and a drink included.  This restaurant describes itself as a “gastronomic journey,” meaning that everything on the menu is innovative, creative, and something that you won’t find anywhere else.  Some interesting dishes from the menu include a cold melon and mint soup, grilled cod with tomato jam, and a lemon and cava sorbet for dessert.  Located on Carrer Enric Granandos, a beautiful and peaceful street lined with trees and a popular spot for relaxing, you can enjoy your meal with a great view especially if snag a table outside on the terrace.  The nighttime and weekend menu is more expensive, €19, but with more options for courses including vegetarian and vegan options.  However for a weekday lunch El Nou de Granados couldn’t be a better deal for an inexpensive gastronomic experience.

PerBacco!

PerBacco! is an authentic Italian restaurant and pizzeria located in the heart of Barcelona on Avinguda Diagonal.  Walking in, you feel as if you are in a little trattoria in Rome instead of really being miles away.  Their mouth-watering pizzas range in price from €7.50 to €13.90c depending on the toppings, providing you with plenty to share (even though you won’t want to).  The classics are Margherita and Prosciutto e Funghi but you can branch out and try something more exotic like the Catalana: tomato, cheese, onion, and butifarra.  The menu extends far beyond pizza, including pastas, rice, salads, and a splendid array of desserts.  All of the salads are less than €10 and all of the desserts are less than €5!  Overall, your bill won’t add up to too much in the end especially if you are sharing a pizza. Mamma mia, what a deal!
