Catalonia’s most famous dishes

Catalonia’s cuisine is full of intense flavors. With dishes that give great emphasis to tomato, olive oil, seafood and a variety of sausages, Catalan cuisine is guaranteed to leave you with a great aftertaste.

Let’s get to know some of Catalonia’s most famous dishes:

Pan amb tomaquét: Slices of bread with olive oil, salt and crushed tomato.

Arròs Caldoso: rice dish with vegetables, meat, chicken or seafood, served with a great amount of broth.

Fideuá: a dish which is very similar to paella, made with pasta instead of rice.

Faves a la catalana: fava beans cooked with a variety of sausages, mushrooms and greens.

Escalivada: a mix of eggplant, anchovies and red pepper, cooked in a wood oven.

Arròs Negre: white rice, squid, cuttlefish and shrimp, prepared in fish broth with spices and squid ink, which gives the dark color to the rice.

Butifarra: sausage filled with pork meat that has been grinded and mixed with spices. It is normally served with lima beans.

Esqueixada de bacallà: a dish made with raw, shredded codfish, tomato, onion, red pepper, olives and a sauce of olive oil, vinegar and salt.

Bomba: a potato ball filled with ground meat, covered in hot sauce.

Crema catalana: a desert made with sweet cream and burnt sugar on top.

Mel y Mató: a desert made with mató cheese, a fresh cheese made with cow, goat and sheep’s milk mixed with lemon juice, specially prepared in Catalonia. The mató cheese is usually served with honey or nuts.

La Garriga

La Garriga specializes in artisanal products. Some of their dishes include butifarra com judias secas, lentejas pardinas estofadas and risotto de salsichas com berenjena y gorgonzola.

La Garriga is open from Monday to Friday between 8 am and 12 pm, Saturdays from 12 am to 5 pm and 8 pm to 12 am, and Sundays from 9 am to 5 pm.

With an average meal price of 28€, this restaurant serves dishes like ascacielos de tomate y mozarella com rúcula y olivada, bombones de foie and milhojas de setas de temporada com huevo poché y virutas de foie.

Citrus is open every day of the week between 1 pm and 4 pm and 7:30 pm and 12 am.
