Where to grab a cheap bite next to Sants train station

Sants is home to one of the main train stations in Barcelona. If you are interrailing around Europe, or if you get the high-speed train to Barcelona from Madrid, Zaragoza or even France, this will be where you’ll have your first encounter with the city of Barcelona. But before checking into your ShBarcelona flat for your time here, you will probably need something to eat. So where can you get some cheap food around this area?

Zarautz

Zarautz is a basque restaurant a mere 100 meters from the station. Here you are offered meats, tapas and salads that would cost you a lot more in the center than they do here. The food is of excellent quality and the prices are very wallet-friendly.

La Paradeta Sants

La Paradeta Sants is a seafood restaurant just west of the train station. If you are after a good quality seafood meal but on a modest budget, this is the place for you. They do have expensive options, such as lobster, but if you order sensibly it is really quite affordable. Many of the dishes served at this restaurant are made with locally-caught fish, which allows for the prices to be lower.

Ugarit

Ugarit is definitely one for those wanting to try something a bit different. This Syrian restaurant is unlike any other you will find in Barcelona, offering great-tasting Middle Eastern food at very affordable prices. They serve a variety of dishes, including a selection of salads and kebabs that will keep you going well until you reach your accommodation.

Fast Food

For those in a hurry, head on to Burger King or KFC, which are located less than 10 minutes away. There is also a McDonald’s which can be found in the train station itself.

For other fast food restaurants, you will have to venture out to the Carrer de Sants, which is about a ten-minute walk away. Once you are there it will be easy to find a taxi or bus to your next destination.
