Barcelona Bridal Week 2014 has begun

Written by Adriana

Yesterday May the 6th began the world’s largest bridal event, which has new headquarters in the Fira de Barcelona, and will house more than 23 fashion shows of Spanish and International designers and more than 200 brands specialized in this type of fashion. The Barcelona Bridal Week makes Barcelona the world capital of bridal fashion until May the 11th in its 24th edition.

The Fira de Barcelona organizes for the first time this event after 23 editions run by Flaqué International and the Barcelona Fashion Association, due to an agreement between the parts. From the 6th to the 9th of May will be held the Pasarela Gaudí Novias and from the 9th to the 11th will take place the Salón Noviaespaña during this Barcelona Bridal Week. The focus of the first three days will be on the catwalk, where the creations of Rosa Clarà will be shown at the opening, before other designers will do their fashion show as Raimon Bundó, Victorio & Lucchino, Jesus Peiró, Yolan Cris, Inmaculada García, M & M, Cymbelline, Hannibal Laguna, Jordi Dalmau, Ana Torres, Fran Sarabia, Francis Montesino, Manualvarez, Patricia Avedaño, Isabel Zapardiez or male bridal designs by Fuetecapada, among others. This first stage of an intense week will close with the presentation of Pronovias that will offer a special show to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

In this first stage is worth to mention the Spanish participation as the bridal industry has the world’s higher benefits, thanks to exports and the strength of the business nationwide.

In the second stage of this intense week, Salón Noviaespaña will show designs of over 200 brands that have the opportunity to showcase new fashions for brides and grooms, as well as accessories and communion dresses. In this case, foreign participation has much presence, with the 50% of the exposed showrooms.

In a country that is recently recovering from a severe financial crisis, it is important to strengthen and promote those industries or sectors that are deeply rooted or are a global reference, as the bridal fashion. Although it may seem somewhat frivolous organizing a fair of this kind as it is, it is not at all, because events like this are what attract foreign investment and strengthen the national economy. If you’re thinking about getting married, or if you have interest in this kind of fashion and creations, you should not miss out on this great world meeting, in ShBarcelona we are sure you will find what you are looking for! If you are not a professional or you still don’t have your accreditation, you can follow the shows online at the event website.
