It’s a sunny day and you are in Barcelona and searching the web for things to do from the comfort of your flat. You have been to the beach, you have walked up and down Las Ramblas, and you have seen most of the sights. What about trying to look at the city from a different angle and riding the Port Vell Aerial Tramway?

The first station, the Torre de Sant Sebastia, is located right next to the beach in Barceloneta, which is great if you are looking to ride the cable car after a day at the beach, or if you’re staying at the iconic W Hotel on the waterfront. There are often long queues, especially during the summer months, so it is best to book in advance.
The cable car takes you over the yachts of Barcelona’s old harbor and heads over to the other side of the city. Between the Torre de San Sebastian and the halfway tower of Jaume l, there is a spectacular panorama of the old city center and its beaches. From here, the tramway takes you up to Miramar. On this part of the journey, you can see the grand scale of the modern port, along with further views of the city.

Once you have reached Miramar, you will be a short walk from the 1992 Olympic Stadium or to Teleférico de Montjuïc, which takes you up to the Montjuïc Castle.
For the less adventurous, the restaurant right next to the Miramar cable car station – Restaurante Miramar – offers truly remarkable views of Barcelona. This luxurious venue offers high-quality food and drinks, which makes it somewhat pricey. Restaurante Miramar is a great place to go with your significant other and enjoy a nice meal while also enjoying the beautiful view.
A one-way ticket for the cable car costs 11€, while the round trip tickets cost 16€.
The aerial tramway is in motion all year long, being closed only on December 25th. From the 30th October to the 28th of February, the first trip takes place at 11 am and the last trip takes place at 5:30 pm. From the 1st of March to the 29th of October, the schedule is from 10:30 am to 7 pm, except for the summer months, when it is open one extra hour, until 8 pm.
