A sweet tour of Barcelona

When visiting Barcelona, you will have the opportunity to try so many delicious sweets, it will take great will and restraint to not eat it all!

Here are a couple of suggestions for those who would like to take a sweet tour of Barcelona.

Museu de la Xocolata

Located at the former Sant Agustí monastery, the Museu de la Xocolata tells the visitors all about this delicious treat. From chocolate’s origins and its arrival in Europe to its medicinal properties and nutritional value. The museum offers a variety of activities like a chocolate tasting workshop; a class where visitors will learn how to make chocolate bars, bonbons and lollipops; and blindfolded chocolate tasting.

You can find the chocolate museum at Carrer Comerç, 36.

Papabubble

Founded in 2004, Papabubble is a brand of artisanal-made candies. The brand sells lollipops, , hard candy, gummies, and more. Depending on the day, visitors may even be able to catch a glimpse of the candy making process. It is a must-visit for all candy lovers!

You can find Papabubble at Carrer Ample 28 and at Carrer de Major de Sarrià 76.

Chök

Chök is a wonderful dessert shop located near Las Ramblas. Founded in 2013, this shop has become one of the most famous names in the sweets business in Barcelona. At Chök you can try chocolates, cupcakes, macaroons, truffles, cookies, chocolate french fries, donuts, cronuts and much more!  The store is easy to identify from far away, since there is always a group of people standing outside, staring at the delicious-looking pastries.

Chök is located at Carrer del Carme, 3.

Nougat and Chocolate Museum

Vicens is a brand specialized in artisanal nougats, or how they are known in Spain, torronsVicens produces more than 150 varieties of nougats like Agramunt’s nougat, hard nougat, soft nougat, egg yolk and marzipan nougats. The brand has created a Nougat and Chocolate Museum, where visitors can discover the history behind the brand and learn about the making of nougat and chocolate.

Nougat and Chocolate Museum is located at Carretera de Tàrrega 2, in Agramunt, about an hour and a half away from Barcelona.

Espai Sucre

Created by Jordi Butrón and Xano Saguer, Espai Sucre offers a brand new way of experiencing restaurant pastries. Espai Sucre is the first dessert restaurant in the world. The founders of the restaurant wanted to create an experience that would enhance the value of restaurant’s desserts, crossing the boundaries between sweet and savory.

Espai Sucre is located at Calle Princesa, 53.
