Brunch in Gràcia

Written by Garry Gallon

Whereas brunch (or the act of combining breakfast and lunch ) was once purely a stateside phenomenon, now you can’t visit any self-respecting cosmopolitan city without tripping over a brunch restaurant. And Barcelona is no different, as a huge variety of restaurants that serve a variety of brunch menus have popped up all over the city. So whether you are a tourist hungry for an early afternoon meal, or a local bemused by this strange custom of confused eating times, there are plenty of options for you to try.

One of the neighborhoods that best exemplifies this trend is Gràcia: walk down any street in the area, and you will find a ton of brunch places with healthy and reasonably priced menus. Sit back and let ShBarcelona guide you through where to have brunch in Gràcia.

One of the most authentic Mexican Restaurants in Barcelona, Cantina Machito is a prestigious locale that serves fantastic Mexican food with a European, less spicy twist. Apart from the wide variety of traditional Mexican dishes, the restaurant now offers a brunch. Perhaps Mexican isn’t your idea of a meal to start the day, but this place may make you change your mind! They have a fantastic outdoor terrace, right next door to Verdi Park Cinema, if you fancy a movie after brunch!

Timeline

Another place that offers perhaps a more traditional idea of brunch in Gràcia, Timeline can be found in the North of the district. Small and cozy, and with a beautiful antique shop decoration, Timeline boasts a vintage style that gives the whole place a cool retro vibe. It offers perhaps the best brunch deal in Barcelona: every weekend, they offer an open brunch buffet at a great price, with bread, bagels, cold meats, cheeses, salads, fruit and pancakes. Apart from a lot of variety, the food is of great quality and the staff is incredibly friendly. To make sure you get a spot in this popular restaurant, we advise you phone to make a reservation before your visit.

If what you are really craving is a proper American breakfast, they look no further than Barcelona’s very own slice of New York. Meatpacking Bistro offers a beautiful modern space that is fantastically hipster, boasting an extensive brunch menu of mostly American food. If your perfect idea of brunch is to settle down under some vintage posters and enjoy some delicious pancakes or bagels, then this is the brunch restaurant for you!
